This moving short film, created in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, follows internationally renowned artist Mackenzie as he creates a unique artwork for Lee from Middlesbrough (a town they both call home).
Responding to Lee’s story and his experience of cancer, Mackenzie also draws on his own journey with the illness, bringing a deeply personal perspective to the work. The process becomes something more than the creation of a single piece, unfolding as a powerful moment of connection between artist and subject, rooted in empathy and shared understanding.
Reflecting themes long present in Mackenzie’s work — tenderness, resilience, and human connection — the film offers a thoughtful and personal insight into both the creative process and the stories that inspire it.
