We’re so proud to have been part of the incredible ‘You and I’ Community Clay Project led by Yarm School in celebration of the new Stockton Waterfront Urban Park.
Inspired by Mackenzie Thorpe, the project brought together over 1,000 children from across Stockton-on-Tees, each creating a clay figure of themselves holding something meaningful. The result is a moving installation full of individuality, imagination and heart.
Mackenzie has long believed in the power of creativity to help children find their voice, especially those who may struggle in traditional learning environments. Seeing his work and story used as inspiration throughout this project has been something truly special for him and the wider studio.
Over two years of workshops, we’ve seen children open up, gain confidence and express emotions through their sculptures in ways that words often can’t reach. From joyful celebrations of family and hobbies to deeply personal tributes, every piece tells its own story.
Mackenzie was incredibly moved to read about the impact of the project and the children involved:
