Across the Mersey

Being a Yorkshire artist, Mackenzie has always had a love of the North and there is much that binds the northern cities of Middlesbrough and Liverpool. In “Across the Mersey” Mackenzie talks about the decline of industry on the famous rivers that run through them. But much as the transporter bridge endures on Teesside, the ferry continues to cross the Mersey.

In this picture Mackenzie talks about how he brings out a depth in the clouds and the sky, how that depth is the essence of time passing and an unusual technique he uses to achieve that effect.
