Mackenzie inspires Middlesbrough’s Young Artists with “Stronger Together”

Mackenzie once again brought his unique vision and heart to his hometown of Middlesbrough by collaborating with Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School on a transformative art project.

The school, known for its diverse student body of over 300 children speaking 36 different languages, approached Mackenzie for guidance in creating murals to brighten their playground. With his deep ties to the community and passion for nurturing creativity, Mackenzie eagerly embraced the opportunity to inspire the next generation.

Central to the project was the theme Stronger Together, chosen to celebrate the unity and resilience of the community. To kick off the initiative, Mackenzie sent personalised video messages to the children, sharing tips and encouragement to help them develop their artistic ideas. The students responded with enthusiasm, creating vibrant artworks that reflected their love for Middlesbrough and its many cherished landmarks.

Mackenzie personally selected 12 of the children’s designs to be displayed in the school playground, each one a testament to the creativity and joy of its young artists. From depictions of bridges and parks to scenes of friendship and family, the paintings capture the essence of what makes Middlesbrough a special place.

To complement the children’s work, Mackenzie created a new piece of art, also titled Stronger Together. This artwork symbolises the power of community and togetherness, values that resonate deeply with both the school and the wider Middlesbrough area.

Headteacher Vicky White expressed her gratitude for Mackenzie’s involvement, saying:

“The theme of Mackenzie’s artwork couldn’t be more perfect for our school and our community. Our children have poured their hearts into this project, and the result is something truly inspiring.”

The children themselves shared their thoughts on the importance of unity. One Year 6 pupil, Vanessa, remarked:

“Just let different people live here—it doesn’t matter. Let them have fun in life.”

Now, the playground at Sacred Heart is a vibrant showcase of art and hope, with the children’s creations and Mackenzie’s artwork serving as daily reminders of the power of coming together.

This project stands as a testament to Mackenzie’s enduring connection to Middlesbrough and his commitment to inspiring future generations through art. By fostering creativity and celebrating unity, Stronger Together brings the spirit of Middlesbrough to life in a way that will leave a lasting impact.
